"i don’t care that Marie Antoinette (2006) is historically inaccurate!"
In my opinion, Mina Le does some of THE BEST social discourse ever. She covers a lot of social, film, literature anything going on in society- she covers. The main message and part of Sofia's work really revolves around being able to acurately and beautifully analyze and capture (both in cinematography and in dialogue) the experience of womanhood. Especially because the film and story of Marie Antionette was so sweked in a world of patriarchy, the film is meant to capture the "real" story. Even though it is not fully historically accruate, Mina Le disects exaclty why that does not matter and why it makes Sofia's film that much more amazing.
"has Hollywood gone too far with these biopics?"
On the same premise, Hollywood has very inaccurately depicted many biopics across the board. This video goes over exactly what directors are doign WRONG that makes it that much more obvious what Sofia is doing RIGHT. This past year (2023), Sofia directed Priscilla. A biopic on her life by the side of Elvis Presely but more importantly, her life without him because yes she was his wife but her story is worth telling as an individual because she is her wn persona afterall. So in connection to that, Mina Le perfectly dissects the other side of directors who don't seem to do biopics justice unlike Sofia who has continued her track record.
